Looks like even Gartner is getting down to brass tacks when it comes to SOA. "Improve Your Relationship with SOA!" Initial counseling sessions available. lol!

Interesting... Keynote delivers the point that to start SOA, you have to start with a business justification. I'll be interested in hearing if they provide any best practices and examples of this justification.

Wow, nice comment from Andy Kyte:

"Accidental Architecture of the 20th Century". True enough.

So, in Gartner speak:

Business Clusters = Business Capabilities
Platform Clusters = Technical Capabilities

Andy Kyte is presenting in a nice British accent, and it's all I can do to not laugh every time he says "Clusters", in his own particular manner.

Gartner SOA Benefit Traceability Matrix

Gartner seems to have provided a framework of pieces to justify SOA - similar to what we've done with MDM.

It's probably the same framework for BPM as well.

The analyst presenting biz case for SOA has just issued a challenge for a real justified biz case - he's never seen one. LOL

ok, so I talked to the analyst from Gartner who was presenting the SOA BVA framework (it's somewhat rudimentary, but this is a new area for him). He is very interested in partnering to understand the space better. Dosage will be very important, we don't want to adversely affect the patient before he is ready to understand what TIMM is :)

Saw a couple of case studies from Oracle. It's amazing what they spotlighted as success stories. Only if you don't have any expectations around budget, time to market, and strategy alignment. Wait, I thought that was the reason one goes SOA route... Ah well, must've been lost in translation :)
