Opening Question - what metrics are you collecting and why?
Bob Greenberg - IBM is adapting to market pressures.
Jo Hoppe - three ways of thinking about IT metrics
1. Traditional - uptime, help desk, etc.
2. Strategic goals - not just for senior managers, but for whole organization
3. Business IT Alignment measures - what did IT contribute to the success of the business, and how well did it do in deploying scarce resources on right projects
RADM Hight - bottom line is mission assurance vs profitability
Steve Schuckenbrock - importance of incentives based on metrics
Question: How does one go about segregating IT's contribution to the overall bottom line?
Bob Greenberg - bring all stakeholders to the table?
Moderator follow up: if everyone is at the table, who is responsible?
Jo Hoppe - use portfolio management in more than in traditional sense.
Question: Why are people are suddenly so excited about cloud computing if it's just a rehash of old concepts?
RADM Hight - in unanticipated circumstances, it allows DISA to stand environments up very quickly. Offering of capabilities on the Intranet (Nibbernet). Allows environments to be stood up (Infrastructure Services, SaaS, etc.) within 10 minutes.
